Well, I can’t say I’ve made anything recently…
but I have acquired some more fabric!

fresh flowers fat quarter and noteworthy charm pack

fresh flowers fat quarter and moda’s noteworthy charm pack

I have no leg to stand on.  I don’t need this fabric.  I can’t afford this fabric.  There is no room in my stash for this fabric.

And yet, here it is, in my house.  And I love it!

It is almost all fat quarters though…. just the jester in tangerine and turquoise, and the flora in tangerine are yards.  And then there’s the noteworthy that’s a charm pack.  The rest are all fat quarters.  And all of the fabric except the ginghams were on sale…

Excuses, excuses.  I’m preaching to the choir here, aren’t I?  Can I hear a “Hallelujah”?  How about an “Amen”?

I have long been in love with Patty Young’s Jester fabric from the Andalucia collection for Michael Miller.  I bought yardage of the red, the green and the pink several years back. I even wrote four posts about it: one, two, three and four.

So imagine my surprise when I found out that she released new colours last year – colours that are now harder to find anywhere because they are out of print.

I managed to find a yard of the brown on sale and broke my “no new fabrics to the stash” rule for it.  So far no luck on the turquoise, aqua or orange.  The couple of places who do have them advertised want a fortune to ship to Canada.  Especially now US postal rates have risen.  So those three go on my “covet” list.

While I was perusing Patty Young’s website, I came across this fabulous tutorial on patchwork pillow cover she posted last January.  The white panes really make the colours pop.  I think I have to make something like this!

These are the newest arrivals for my fabric stash:

I’m trying to get back on top of my etsy site.

To that end I have renewed my expired listings, and decided to increase my prices but offer free shipping.  I’m hoping this will encourage purchases…

I also got off my ass and took photos of other finished works to add to the site.  I’m trying to add them one at a time so that I keep my site at the top of the “recently added” section in hopes that more people will see my wares and click through to my shop.  No sales yet, but I live in hope!

I’m still not thrilled with my photographs, but they’ll do for now.

So many napkin sets – where to start?

How about with the first set I made?  Good idea!

These napkins are made from my fun new Michael Miller harlequin fabric.

The red print is called “jester” and the green print is called “flora”.  They’re from the Andalucia line.  The colours are bright and fabulous and I love how the harlequin is the background on the flora fabric.  I think its a great echo to use the solid harlequin for the reversible side of the floral napkins.

It is a set of 4 cloth napkins, cut-size 15″ x 15″ for a finished size of approximately 14.5″ square.  They’re top-stitched in green.

I love them!  Is it wrong to hope that no one buys them and they stay mine forever?

Some recent additions to the fabric stash:

fat quarters

fat quarters

These eight fat quarters are lovely.  Most are Michael Miller prints.  The rest didn’t come with the selvage so I’m not too sure whose they are.  I should be able to get a patchwork scarf and patchwork bag out of them (using the plain brown polycotton fabric as scarf backing and bag lining), but am biding my time to see if I can come up with something more inspired to use them for.  I always make scarves and bags and pillows.  There must be something else I can create!

virgin of guadalupe

virgin of guadalupe

I got three yards of the Virgin of Guadalupe fabric by Alexander Henry – that provides me with 11 virgins to create with.  I’m tossing around several ideas of what to do with all those lovely ladies.  I figure at least one bag and one pillow cover will be made – but what to do with the rest of the blessed babes?  I need some divine inspiration!

I am also eagerly awaiting the delivery of these two Michael Miller prints from his Andalucia series:

I am in love with the harlequin print and am coveting the green colourway as well, but cannot seem to find it at the same price point as the red.  So that goes on the covet list!
